INTEGRATED
AMPS :
Explorer 90 SI - Mercury
Design 30
POWER BLOCKS :
Galaxy - Cosmos - Titan - Jupiter
D/A CONVERTERS :
Hermes II
PREAMPLIFIER :
Eclipse - Equinoxe
The first hybrid in the Kora product line, the Explorer
is capable of delivering 60 watts on 8 Ohms (90w on 4 ohms). The design philosophy
during the conception period was that each component should be given the role
that suits it best voltage amplification for the tubes and current amplification
for the Mosfet transistors.
It has 5 high-level inputs, a monitor loop as well as a direct connection to
the power amp for use in an Audio/Video installation.
- Power : 2 x 60w - 8 OHMS (2 x 90w on 4 OHMS).
- Slew rate : 2,4µs.
- Frequency band : 7Hz - 40kHz (-3dB).
- Signal/noise ratio : 100dB.
- 4 Inputs : 330mV/100 K ohms.
- Weight : 7kgs.
- Preamplifier section uses 1 x ECC81 Electro-Harmonix.
- Current amplification is handled by a pair of complementary
Mosfets (IRFP150-IRFP9140).
- Includes unity gain processor loop for audio/video processor connection, source
& monitor.
- Regulated by Mosfets. Dimensions : 420 x 260 x 90mm
The Explorer has also been awarded the coverted 'Diapason
D'Or' - "At this price, the Explorer is the best French integrated ever
realized."
France's Diapason magazine Oct '99
"...the designers at Kora know perfectly how to
get the best out of tubes and transistors, offering a natural reproduction that
constantly 'sings'."
From November's 99 PRESTIGE AUDIO/VIDEO
"...we believe this is a very fine affair and one
that has to have priority on your 'to hear' list...you're very likely to find
the answer you're looking for..."
Haute Fidelité, November '99

We are proud to annonce the new HERMES 2. From Stereo Times Most Wanted Components 2002: "...the Kora Hermes wins in both budget and "price no object" categories for me."
Created in 1990 by a small group of young electronics engineers, Kora E.C. started as a company specialising in power supplies and signal treatments for the reputed French Aerospatiale complex at Toulouse .
As lovers of music, however, this knowledge was soon to be transformed and channelled into the design of quality hi-end tube amplifiers.
As part of the flourishing French ‘Silicon Valley’ area that has earned Toulouse it’s name in the world electronics industry, Kora brought out their first amplifier, the Design 30 Integrated in 1994.
It rapidly gained them a world-wide reputation, placing Kora definitively on the hi-end map. As part of its innovative design, by creator François Philibert, the use of Mos-Fet transistors was used to stabilise the power supply whilst leaving the signal free from transistor interference.
The more powerful Design 50 followed with its unique ‘Constant Power’ system which allows the amplifier to correct the fluctuations in impedance of the speakers !
1995-6 saw the development and commercialisation of the 80w Triode 100SB Monoblock, using the relatively unknown Russian military tube, the Sovtek 6C33CB.
It’s success was immediate, bringing praise from such world-renowned tube gurus as Jean Hiraga.
A year later, the Eclipse Triode Remote Controlled Preamplifier was brought out to complement the 100SB’s and was called ‘The New French Reference’ by the hi-fi press.
1999 saw the Las Vegas WCES debut of the Galaxy50w stereoblock, a fabulous triode design, with an exceptional aesthetic and its' big brothers, the Cosmos 100W Triode Monoblocks.
Also commercialised was the Mercury, an entry range full function 40w integrated as well as the unique hybrid design 60w integrated, The Explorer 90SI.
New products out in the fall - Hermes 2 converter, Explorer 150SI hybrid integrated!
As the
spear-head of hi-end’s technological avant-garde, the Kora team will continue
to create new and original designs for the music enthusiast who wants nothing
less than the very soul of music.
